Nudge privacy policy
The short version: Nudge keeps only what it needs to deliver a buzz from your phone to your partner's: a first name, your settings and a short history. No email, no phone number, no contacts, no location. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob.

Nudge is an Android app made by DevRocks, a sole proprietorship in India. It lets two people link their phones so either one can make the other's phone vibrate. Questions about this page go to partybook.support@gmail.com.
1. What Nudge stores, and why
Nudge uses Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions and Cloud Messaging) to run. Data is stored on Google's servers in Mumbai, India, and is encrypted in transit.
- An anonymous account
- When you first open Nudge it creates an anonymous Firebase account: a random ID tied to this install. You never give an email address, phone number or password.
- Your display name
- The name you type during setup, shown to the person you link with.
- A push token and your time zone
- Firebase Cloud Messaging gives your phone a token so nudges can reach it. Your time zone (for example "Asia/Kolkata") is used only to apply your quiet hours at the right local time.
- Your settings
- Whether nudges may get through silent mode, and your quiet hours.
- Your link
- Who you are linked with, both display names, and when the link started and ended. Pairing codes expire after 10 minutes.
- Nudge history
- For each nudge: who sent it, who received it, the pattern ("Thinking of you", "Call me" or "Urgent"), when it was sent and whether it was delivered. You and your partner can both see it in History.
- Rate-limit counters
- The times of your recent nudges and pairing attempts, kept for at most an hour, to stop nudges being sent too often and pairing codes being guessed. Pairing attempts are also counted per network, using a one-way hash of your IP address; the address itself is never stored.
- App integrity check
- Nudge uses Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity to confirm requests come from the genuine app, which protects your link from scripts and modified apps. Google processes this check as our service provider.
This data is used only to make Nudge work. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.
2. Ads
Nudge shows ads from Google AdMob on the History and Settings screens. Ads never cover the Nudge button or an incoming nudge. To show and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects your device's advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address, and information about ad interactions and app performance (for example crashes). Google handles this data under its own policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Nudge asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. Anywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Google → Ads).
3. Permissions
- Notifications
- To show who nudged you.
- Vibration
- To play the nudge. If you choose to let nudges through silent mode, Nudge plays the vibration as an alarm so it is felt even when the phone is on silent.
- Do Not Disturb access (optional)
- Lets a nudge's notification show during Do Not Disturb. Nudge never changes your Do Not Disturb settings.
- Full-screen alerts (optional)
- Lets an Urgent nudge light up the screen like an alarm.
- Fingerprint, face or screen lock (optional)
- If you turn on App lock, Android asks for your fingerprint, face or screen lock when Nudge opens. Android checks it; Nudge never receives, stores or sends any biometric data or PIN. The App lock and Discreet notifications settings are stored only on your phone.
- Camera, only through Google's code scanner
- Scanning a pairing QR code uses Google Play services' scanner. Nudge itself never gets camera access or sees the camera image.
4. Who can see your data
Only the person you link with sees your display name and your shared nudge history. Firestore security rules stop anyone else's app from reading it. Google processes the data as our service provider (Firebase) and, for ads, as described in section 2.
5. Keeping and deleting your data
Your data is kept while you use Nudge. To delete everything, open Settings → Delete my data: this unlinks you, deletes your name, settings, links and nudge history (including the nudges you shared with your partner) and your anonymous account, straight away.
If you have already uninstalled Nudge, write to partybook.support@gmail.com with the display name you used and roughly when, and we will delete the matching data within 30 days.
6. Children
Nudge is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used Nudge, write to us and we will delete the data.
7. Grievances
Complaints and questions about privacy go to the Grievance Officer, Suba R, DevRocks, at partybook.support@gmail.com. We reply within 7 days. See Contact.
8. Changes to this policy
If a future version of Nudge changes any of the above, this page will be updated before that version is released, with a new date at the top.
